About the role
As a Business Development Representative (BDR) at Finmo, you will play a key role in building qualified sales pipeline across both outbound and inbound channels.
You will research and engage target accounts, run personalised outreach, hold discovery conversations, and qualify opportunities before handing them over to Account Executives. You will work within a defined corridor and Ideal Customer Profile (ICP), focusing your prospecting efforts on the right markets, accounts, and decision-makers. You will be supported by a senior sales lead, with coaching and a clear playbook to guide your approach.
This is an individual contributor role for someone who is commercially sharp, curious, comfortable engaging prospects, and relentless about building quality pipeline.
Key Responsibilities
Prospecting & Pipeline Generation
- Research and identify target accounts and key stakeholders aligned with Finmo's Ideal Customer Profile (ICP).
- Generate qualified pipeline through outbound prospecting across cold calls, personalised emails, LinkedIn, and other relevant channels.
- Qualify inbound leads and identify opportunities with strong potential to progress through the sales funnel.
- Tailor your outreach based on the prospect's business, market, and potential pain points to create relevant and meaningful conversations.
- Consistently work towards agreed activity, meeting, and pipeline targets.
Discovery & Qualification
- Hold discovery conversations to understand prospect needs, challenges, priorities, and potential fit with Finmo.
- Ask thoughtful questions and apply sound judgement to determine whether an opportunity should progress.
- Qualify opportunities against clear criteria and ensure Account Executives receive relevant context for an effective handoff.
- Book qualified meetings and opportunities for Account Executives.
CRM & Collaboration
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date prospect, activity, and pipeline information in HubSpot.
- Work closely with Account Executives and the wider commercial team to continuously improve prospecting approaches and messaging.
- Share market and prospect insights with the team, including common pain points, objections, competitive feedback, and emerging opportunities.
- Learn from coaching, prospect feedback, and performance data to continuously improve your approach.
What You Bring
- 3+ years of experience in business development, sales development, pipeline generation, or a similar commercial role.
- A demonstrated track record of generating qualified pipeline through outbound prospecting.
- Strong communication and critical-thinking skills. You should be able to engage prospects confidently, ask the right questions, listen carefully, and think beyond a standard sales script.
- Comfortable conducting discovery conversations and qualifying opportunities before handing them over to Account Executives.
- Experience selling to financial institutions or within cross-border payments is a plus, but not a requirement.
- Comfortable working with CRM and prospecting tools such as HubSpot and LinkedIn Sales Navigator.
- A self-starter who is comfortable working in a fast-moving environment where processes and playbooks continue to evolve.
- Curious, coachable, and willing to learn quickly about Finmo's products, customers, and the broader payments and treasury landscape.
What Success Looks Like
You consistently generate qualified pipeline, create meaningful conversations with the right prospects, and provide Account Executives with well-qualified opportunities. You understand your market and ICP, maintain strong CRM discipline, and continuously improve your approach based on coaching, data, and what you learn from prospects.
